Dear Friends,

Over the past several months, we have been diligently preparing for the opening of our newest location at 873 Broadway in Union Square. We are delighted to officially announce the opening of Flight School -- a center dedicated to AntiGravity Yoga, AcroYoga & Aerial Arts. Join us to celebrate our grand opening on the weekend of April 14 & 15. We will be offering free classes throughout the weekend, along with performances and other festivities. Follow us on Twitter @FlightSchoolNYC to hear about special offers and enter to win prizes such as your own AntiGravity Yoga hammock, a Passport Membership and more!

This month, we also celebrate our graduates from Om Factory's School of Yoga teacher training program. The celebration happens on the evening of Sunday, April 15 at 7pm at our Fashion District location. Please join us for community class at 5:30pm and stick around for the after party!

On the evening of Sunday, April 29, we invite you and your loved ones to join our special guests Shyamdas & Sadhu Maharaja for an evening of Kirtan and stories that will teach us to embrace the joy of selfless service. Proceeds from this donation-based offering will benefit Prem Prasad, an organization in Vrindavan, India feeding those in greatest need on a daily basis.

Coming up in May, we are honored to host some of our favorite and most delightful guest presenters... here's the abundant line-up:

Join us this evening for a beautiful journey through Kirtan and stories that will teach us how to embrace and recognize the joy of selfless service and desireless action known as Nishkama Karma. We will learn from the well-known Vedic scholar and Sanskrit translator Shyamdas and Sadhu Maharaja, the last in a long succession of kings who turned away from materialism to lead the life of a renunciant. Proceeds from this workshop will go to Prem Prasad, an organization that brings food daily to the poor and those in need. Please invite your friends and loved ones for this special event.

Kirtan Concert with Wah!

Cost: $25 pre-registered / $30 at door
Click here to register for this event

Wah! intricately weaves the human experience into Kirtan, guiding all of us on a journey of self-love and acceptance through her music. Her spiritual approach to music inspires the listener back to the realization that we can collectively change our past and future karma through chanting. Her concerts have been described as a "music bath to the soul". Influenced by the music of Bob Marley, Ravi Shankar, John Cage / Merce Cunningham and Sade, Wah! combines the devotional tradition of Hindu chanting, which dates back more than 500 years to Renaissance India, with contemporary sounds of pop and reggae. The result is a splendid mix of sacred world music.

Friday, May 4, 6:30-8:45pm

Join us for a world-class gathering in the highest spirits... Janet will light the fire of transformation through an ignited Vinyasa flow, crackling with a deep and conscious connection to your core. Throughout the practice, we will create a steady flame that fuels us through the transitions in our life. We will embody this transformative fire in partnership as we take our practice into the sky and explore AcroYoga flying sequences under Jason's guidance. As we cultivate our own inner light, we are reminded to bring that luminosity into our community and share it with those around us.

Hipster Flow With Janet Stone

Cost: $30 pre-registered / $40 drop-in
Click here to register online for this workshop

Join Janet for this dynamic and rigorous flow focused on finding the fluidity in your hips. The rush of the city is familiar to any urban yogi, and this workshop is designed to help you find a non-linear pathway through the swirl, opening the space around the entire hip and pelvis so that you’re more supple and able to absorb the pounding of the pavement. We will wring out the old residue that is stored in our hips and create space for liberation and creativity in the way we work, move, practice, and live. Come prepared to move, chant, and exhale deeply. Open to all levels.

May 19-23, 2012

Shadow Yoga Series with Andy Matinog

Translated as “Garland of Lights”, Kartikkeya Mandalam is the third prelude of the Shadow Yoga school. It is a powerful practice and preparation for deep asana work. Consisting of coordinated spiraling movements and rooted stance work, the prelude enhances the practitioner’s sensitivity of the peripheral body and the ability to withdraw its energy and the mind inward. In addition to the prelude, Primary Asanas will be introduced in this workshop giving participants a full Shadow Yoga practice to take home.

All levels are welcome. Please join us for a FREE introductory lecture and demonstration on Friday, May 18 from 6-7pm!

A certificate of completion will be given out upon completion of the course. 16 credits are applicable towards Yoga Alliance continuing education requirements for Registered Yoga Teachers.

We will learn the use of props that allow the practitioner to hold poses for a longer period of time without strain, promoting deeper relaxation and creating a space for healing. This allows students relief from stress, including the stress of trying to achieve a posture. Sessions will include restorative yoga practice, practice teaching, lecture, journaling, sequencing for special conditions and populations, discussion, therapeutic techniques and time for questions and answers.
