ERICA MATHER
Erica Mather has been a teacher all of her adult life. As a teenager she taught sailing and windsurfing, and in her twenties took up private piano instruction, jazz band direction, and collegiate lecturing on music. The principles of compassion and of learning to realize one’s True Self have always underpinned her teachings, and for Erica, these topics have found full expression through teaching yoga. Attracted by the healing potential of Forrest Yoga, five years ago she began practicing in response to the adult onset of migraine headaches. Her classes are fun and challenging, with special attention paid to intelligent sequencing and deeper feeling of the postures though detailed alignment and innovative assists.
In 2006 Erica completed Ana Forrest’s Foundational Training, and she continues to apprentice with Ana through assisting her at national and international workshops and trainings. She is presently enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where she will earn a certificate in Holistic Health Counseling. Erica holds a Masters Degree in Ethnomusicology from Columbia University, as well as a teaching certificate and undergraduate music degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. ericamather.com
