ALLYSON PIMENTEL EdD
Allyson Pimentel, Ed.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, yoga teacher, and meditation instructor interested in the intersection of ancient Eastern wisdom traditions and modern Western psychological practice. Allyson received her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude and with honors from Brown University and earned her doctorate in Human Development andPsychology from Harvard University. She completed her psychology internship training at NYU-Bellevue Hospital Center, where she went on to be appointed chief intern. Allyson previously was the training director of Bellevue’s Mind-Body Program, which offered mind-body and stress reduction services to people living with medical and psychiatric illnesses. She also served as a senior psychologist and acting program coordinator of Bellevue’s Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic. Allyson completed her yoga teacher training at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center and has participated in a professional training program in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) under the direction of Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. Allyson is a long-time insight (vipassana)meditation practitioner and serves on the Board of Directors of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. She is an Adjunct Professor in the Counseling Center at Lehman College and maintains a private psychotherapy and consulting practice in Manhattan specializing in mindfulness-based treatment approaches, stress reduction, meditation instruction, and strategies for living with greater ease and more joy.
