We will honor the lineage of these teachings and traditions through guided invocations to create an intentional container for our practice. Participants will review anatomical terminology relevant to the techniques applied as well as terminology specific to Thai massage. Information will be layered progressively so that experienced practitioners and as well as new students can benefit.

Session 1 - Set the Foundation (9:30am-12:30pm)

We will cover basic principles, body positions, terminology, diagnostics, and an introductory sequence used at the beginning of a treatment.

Session 2 - Work the Legs, Heal the Back (2:00-5:00pm)

Single-side supine & side-lying sequence. In this session, we will review primary sen lines, and practice therapeutic techniques for tension in legs, hips and lower back (IT band/TFL, hamstrings, adductors, hip flexors & gluts). Many common back pain issues result from tension in the hips and legs. We will explore techniques which yield great results for these troublemakers.

Session 3: Back Massage & Transitions (9:30am-12:30pm)

In this session, we explore transitions between supine, side-lying, prone and seated positions. The transitions provide a glimpse of the Thai sacred dance. We will explore a prone sequence to identify primary sen lines along spine, and practice therapeutic techniques to relieve tension along entire back body, including the legs. Learn how to use body weight and gravity to give a deep and very effective back massage.

Session 4: Seal your Offering (2:00-5:00pm)

In this final session, we will practice techniques for head & neck therapy in seated and supine positions. In the tradition of Thai massage, the head and neck are worked on last in the sequence, and can offer deep relaxation and terrific results to relieve headaches and tension in the upper back.
